Innovation and sustainable Projects for XR / VR

Elle Langer
AR/VR Executive Creative Producer
Pimento Formate

This workshop is for visionary people! Economical, societal and environmental issues are becoming increasingly important. XR offers new opportunities to involve people. We will develop new ideas and potentials with immersive media. The goal? A roadmap for a better life.

This is about?
This workshop is about innovation development for XR and VR in speed format. Here you will find tools and teams to develop new project ideas for XR and VR. Choose your industry: whether advertising, urban infrastructure, education, or creative industry, we have one goal. The ideas should improve our life and have a social, economic or ecological impact. From here on, we develop business model approaches, perhaps even disruptive ones. You will be surprised what we are able to develop in just 2 hours.

What method do we use?
The method is called Open Innovation. In changing teams you build up on the ideas of others. For that you put the consumer needs in the center. Based on this we develop a business model approach. Method kit:  Open Innovation, Design Thinking, Value Proposition Design and Lean Canvas (Osterwalder).

Am I suitable?
Previous knowledge about tech, immersive storytelling or product development is not required. But beware: you are only successful if you are open to new thinking. Out of the box thinking is urgently needed.

How many persons?
16/20 people – you work in groups of four people.

What do I have to bring?
Yourself, with all your creativity, knowledge, and ideas.

Venue:    rbb (broadcasting center)
                    Marlene-Dietrich-Allee 20, 14482 Potsdam
Date:       Wednesday, November 14, 10:45 – 12:45

Justice League, Stephen King’s IT, Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them, Das Boot, Ready Player One, A Discovery Of Witches – more and more movie and TV show releases get accompanied by virtual reality experiences. They can be used as a promotional tool, but also a new medium for creating and expanding a story universe. Examine your own IPs and check out how a meaningful implementation of immersive media could be realized.

When VR comes into play – stage directing for immersive media

Chong Wang
Artistic Director
Théâtre du Rêve Expérimental

VR storytelling techniques aren’t currently relying on expressive camera movement or fast editing. In contrast, good old theater celebrates a comeback. Stage directors know how to use a room, how to position actors, how to attract the audience’s attention. Chong Wang has become the leading force of Chinese experimental theatre for his explorations in multimedia performance and documentary theatre. In this workshop he will teach you the basics: How to stage and to make use of the room for telling stories in VR.
